About the Kentucky Dental Association

The Kentucky Dental Association (KDA) was founded in 1860 and is the constituent (state-level) society of the American Dental Association (ADA) for Kentucky. It describes itself as "the voice of organized dentistry" in the Commonwealth. Under the tripartite membership structure, each KDA member also belongs to a local component society and to the national ADA.

The KDA is headquartered in Louisville and represents more than 1,500 dentists statewide. Its work includes legislative advocacy at the Kentucky General Assembly, continuing education, member practice resources, and access-to-care programs (the KDA helps coordinate dental "ACCESS" clinics and charitable-care programs organized by county and component society).

Executive operations are led by Executive Director Richard Whitehouse. The association is governed by an elected leadership and house of delegates structure. The KDA's component societies were reorganized into regional districts during the 1920s and 1930s.

AI Front Desk for Kentucky Practices

Kentucky's roughly 2,500 practicing dentists span busy metro practices in Louisville and Lexington and small rural offices across Appalachia, many of them solo practitioners who belong to KDA component societies like the Louisville and Northern Kentucky societies. An AI dental receptionist that handles inbound calls, scheduling, and after-hours inquiries helps these understaffed practices avoid missed-call revenue loss — especially valuable for rural offices where hiring front-desk staff is difficult.
